Also in 1995 - Norman Thagard, the first American astronaut to fly in a Russian rocket, blasted off from the icy windswept plains of Kazakhstan.
Ron Olson becomes Acting Fire Chief (Feb. 27) and Fire Chief on Dec. 16.
